San Diego is known for its stunning coastal scenery, and there are several spots where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the ocean. Here are some of the most scenic spots in San Diego with ocean views:
1. La Jolla Cove
This is a picturesque beach area with clear blue waters and the rugged cliffs of Torrey Pines in the distance. The views of the ocean and surrounding coastline are simply stunning. You can also see seals and sea lions on the nearby rocks. Keep in mind that during peak times it can be tough to find parking here. During peak season, if you go during the week or earlier in the mornings, it'll often be less crowded and easier to find free street parking nearby.
2. Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve
This reserve offers hiking trails along the cliffs with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. The extraordinary rock formations matched with beautiful ocean views makes for a very picturesque hike. The Torrey Pines State Beach below is also a beautiful spot, and the Beach Trail will take you all the way down to the beach. At low tide, you're able to make the return to your car by walking on the beach instead of having to walk back up cliffside. This is a state park, so if you choose to park in the parking lot at the bottom, you'll have to pay a fee. There is free parking along the street before the entrance, but during busy times it's kind of up to your luck that day for finding a spot.

3. Sunset Cliffs Natural Park
As the name suggests, this location is known for its spectacular sunset views. The cliffs provide a great vantage point to watch the sun dip below the horizon over the ocean and to admire the San Diego coast. This is also a great place to check out during the day when the sun is out and you can admire the ocean blue waters from atop the cliffs. There are quite a few turnouts with parking spots, but if those are full, no need to worry. There's usually plenty of street parking on all the side streets in neighborhood nearby.

4. Cabrillo National Monument
Located on the Point Loma Peninsula, Cabrillo National Monument offers sweeping views of the ocean, San Diego Bay, and the city skyline. This national park offers multiple scenic views, all within a short walking distance from the main parking lot. During whale season (mid-December through mid-March), you can often spot whales off the coast passing by. This is a national park, so unless you have a pass, you'll have to pay a fee to enter.
5. Kate Sessions Memorial Park
Located in La Jolla near the Pacific Beach area, Kate Sessions Park offers a nice grass area where people often bring blankets to sit on and have picnics, or admire the views of Mission Bay and the San Diego coastline. It's beautiful on a clear day, especially around sunset! Also, when the SeaWorld fireworks are going off, it's a great place to watch them. This place can also get crowded during peak times, so just be aware of when you're going to have realistic expectations for the parking in the lot.
6. Mount Soledad Veterans Memorial
For a panoramic view of San Diego and its coastline, head to the top of Mount Soledad. You'll see views of the La Jolla Coastline, Mission Bay, and more in the distance! On a clear day, this view is extraordinary. There are a few benches throughout that allow for sitting and admiring the view. There's also a small grass area. The Veterans Memorial at the summit provides a stunning lookout point. Parking here is free.
7. Blacks Beach Vista Point
Located in La Jolla and known for its dramatic cliffs, this is a definite site to see. The jagged cliffs above Blacks Beach offer a unique look at the spectacular coastline. You can also watch people hang gliding from Glider port nearby. The parking here is on gravel and is also free.
